The process of coordinating the implementation and operation of the spatial information infrastructure in the Slovak Republic is implemented through the following organisational components:

Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic (MŽP SR)

In the Slovak Republic, the role of gestorship for INSPIRE Directive 745 of 03.10.2007 to the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic (MŽP SR). Transposition was performed by the NIPI Act which entered into force on 01.02.2010. The Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic also ensures the organization of the activities of the Coordination Council and the Expert Group of the National Spatial Information Infrastructure.

In addition to the above, it also ensures the execution of tasks:

National Spatial Information Infrastructure Coordinating Council (NSICC)

The coordinating body for the development and operation of spatial information infrastructure in the Slovak Republic is The Coordination Council of the National Infrastructure for Spatial Information (KR NIPI).

The NIPI CoR is made up of representatives of individual central government and local government bodies. It is established by a decision of the Minister of the Environment and its main task is to coordinate the activities of the obliged persons in the implementation of the NIPI Act. Members are appointed and dismissed by the Minister of the Environment.

National Spatial Information Infrastructure Expert Group (ES NIPI)

The Coordinating Council established the NIPI EC for the purpose of practical and technological implementation of its decisions. The Expert Group shall be composed of experts nominated by the Obliged Persons. The Expert Group shall prepare input to the Coordination Board on the basis of the tasks arising from the Coordination Board's deliberations and present it at the Coordination Board meeting. The meetings of the Expert Group are convened by the Slovak Environmental Agency, which coordinates the activities of the Expert Technical Group. The representative of the Slovak Environmental Agency shall draw up minutes of the expert group meetings and inform all members of the Coordination Board in writing.
